Ah, College Football News

Yes, it is almost time once again.

For the ACC fans in the room, that means that it is only three more months until basketball practice starts. Did anyone else notice that the Big Four was picked dead last in football? Yoinks. Trivia question: What was the last Big Four school to win an ACC football title? That's right folks, Darth Visor himself won one in 1989 with the Duke Blue Devils.

For the rest of you folks that went to / follow a school where football matters (mostly just Gil and the Killa B, I guess), check out this gem from the SEC. Man, even in a conference largely defined (to outsiders) by cheating, this one takes the cake!

You may have to register (try www.bugmenot.com to get a password to get around it), but its worth it just to see the pics.

ESPN Top 100 prospects for 2007

Guess who has the most? Kansas. Even Duke has as many as UNC (I don't believe that). Plus 2 Kansas transfers (Giddens and Padgett) are on the list.

Kansas 7
UNC 4
Duke 4
Florida 4
Ohio St 2

KU vs. Duke?!

• KU-Duke rumors: A rumor is floating that KU will meet Duke in the first game in the new Sprint Center in November of 2007 in Kansas City, Mo. The rumor suggests it’ll be the first game of a four-year series between the powerhouses.

Asked about the rumor, KU senior associate athletic director Larry Keating said nothing was imminent between the schools.

Could it be true?!

Hollywood beauty Natalie Portman is to appear completely naked in new movie Goya's Ghosts. Portman will bare all in the biopic on Spanish painter Francisco Goya in which she plays the artist's muse, who is accused of atheism and then stripped as torture. The 24-year-old previously banned a naked scene she filmed for the 2004 movie Closer from being included in the final cut but allowed director Mike Nichols to show her dancing in a thong. At the time the actress denied the raunchy movie was a way of shedding her childlike Princess Amidala persona from Star Wars. She said, "I don't do it in order to prove something. I just go on with my life and do what feels right." (emphasis added)

Whoo-hoo!

Thom Yorke

John,

If you haven't checked out the solo album yet you need to. Another masterpiece by one of the great artists of our time.

Cover your heart, Indy! Here comes Zidane

Random thoughts from the West Coast:

1. The heck was ZZ thinking??? End of the game, head butting a guy like that. Terrible.

2. Congratulations to Italy, though the French should be proud the way they played on German soil. The US can have a little pride in knowing they were the only team to get a point of Italy (down 10-9 for a good part of that game). Then again, we only scored on an own goal.

3. The Devil Wears Prada was better than Superman.

4. Pirates of the Carribean: Haven't seen it yet, but 132 million opening weekend. Cha-ching!!!!

5. I have joined the next generation with XBOX 360. I couldn't hold out any longer, especially with announcements that PS3 will run about $600 thanks to its BluRay or HDDVD component. 1st games = Call of Duty 2 (pretty sweet graphics; WWII games much more enjoyable as Russian sniper); Oblivion (aptly named bc your social life becomes oblivion after purchasing this game). Madden 2007 arrives in August. I will probably have to take a sabbatical when Halo 3 comes out.

Amendment to My "Funniest Show on TV" Argument

Ever since Arrested Development sadly went off the air, I've searched in vain to find a comedy that could take its place. Last week, my search ended as I tuned into FX. The show: "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". I got a little nervous because reviews compared last week's season premiere to Seinfeld (which I didnt like). But I TIVO'ed it (sorry Jav) anyway. Fucking hilarious!

Here's the synopsis from IMDB:
Four egocentric friends who run a neighborhood Irish pub in Philadelphia try to find their way through the adult world of work and relationships. Unfortunately, their warped views and precarious judgments often lead them to trouble, creating a myriad of uncomfortable situations that usually only get worse before they get better.

And thanks to YouTube here's an episode from last season called: "The Gang Gets Racist"
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U3-J7JwwM8&search=always%20sunny%20philadelphia
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFgPvzC_dAQ&search=always%20sunny%20philadelphia

Judge for yourself. This season (the 2nd) Danny Devito came out of TV retirement to join the cast as did Anne Archer.
